Christmas Cantata 2011
This year our choir will be performing our annual Christmas cantata at the Christmas Eve Service.
The title of the Christmas Eve cantata is:
"Night of the Father's Love" The Awe and Mystery of God with Us
by Pepper Choplin.
All the mystery, the awe, the palpable excitement of that night are imaginatively captured in a Christmas mosaic that combines fragments of the familiar with Pepper Choplin's always-unique perspective in word and music. From the rhythmic pulse of The Coming of the Lord to the Joyful strains of Christ is Born, Nowell!, Night of the Father's love skillfully guides the listener through the Christmas story, as though hearing it again for the first time. Three narrators interject with familiar scripture passages and personal reflections, while an intriguing array of musical styles beautifully expresses the essence of Christmas: the gift of the Father's Love.
This a Christmas Musical Celebration for Choir, Speakers, Actors, and Piano/Organ/Flute accompaniment. Pepper Choplin imaginatively combines fragments of familiar carols with his unique perspective in word and music. The ultimate result is a seasonal worship experience that will both captivate and reassure all of us that, indeed, Christ is born! Now all is well! Christ is born, Nowell! Nowell!
